Checkley Sin Kwok Lam, born in 1957, is a Hong Kong film producer and martial artist who is also a financial and pro-establishment current-affairs commentator. A disciple of Ip Chun, son of Ip Man, and of the Hung Kuen master Lau Kar-leung, he practises tai chi, Hung Kuen and Wing Chun, and has chaired the World Wing Chun Union and the World Hung Kuen Association while serving as vice-chairman of the Wing Chun Union. He is a cousin of the former ATV assistant vice-president Sin Wai-chi and an uncle of the entertainer Wong Cho-lam. He became an associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in 1987 and holds an MBA from Oklahoma City University and a law degree from Manchester Metropolitan University, having worked in banking and finance early in his career. He has held directorships in listed companies including China Oriental Group (2009–2010), First Credit Finance Group (2011–2018) and National Arts Group Holdings. In 2009 he led the founding of the World Wing Chun Union and the Hong Kong Wing Chun Union to promote the art internationally. In film he worked as a producer on 'Ip Man: The Legend is Born' (2010), directed by Herman Yau and released in Hong Kong on 24 June 2010, starring To Yu-hang as the young Ip Man with a cameo by Ip Chun himself; he was not a director of the main 'Ip Man' series. On 19 January 2022 he announced a bid for the sixth-term Chief Executive election through an online platform but withdrew in under three months. On 21 July 2025 he was made bankrupt by order of the High Court.
Checkley Sin worked on two tracks, martial arts and finance. By producing 'Ip Man: The Legend is Born' and organising the World Wing Chun Union and the Hong Kong Wing Chun Union, he brought Wing Chun to a wider audience. A disciple of Ip Chun and Lau Kar-leung, he has a clear lineage in the martial-arts world, while his long record of public comment on finance and politics, his 2022 Chief Executive bid and his 2025 bankruptcy order have kept him in the public eye.
