Johnson Lee Sze-jit, born on 11 April 1974, is a Hong Kong actor, television host and director. Educated at a Sham Shui Po primary school, he emigrated with his family to Mississauga, Canada, at ten, graduated in fine art from the University of Toronto and then studied directing and computer animation in the United States. In 1998 he returned to Hong Kong without telling his parents and joined a training course run by Commercial Radio to promote Stephen Chow's King of Comedy, finishing among the top five of more than a hundred students; his first screen role was a bit-part director in that 1999 film. He joined Television Broadcasts in 2002, made his name playing 'Wu Gau-gau' in the 2003 comedy series and followed it with a widely discussed role in the 2008 drama. He formed the hugely popular comedy trio Fuk Luk Sau with Louis Yuen and Wong Cho-lam, noted for their bold impersonations of singers and celebrities; in 2010 the three hosted the variety show Fun with Liza and Gods with Liza Wang, winning that year's TVB anniversary best programme host award, and in 2011 they starred in a spin-off series and a film. Trained in film, he wrote, directed and starred in the independent feature The Golden Nation in 2008, which won a special award at the Hong Kong Asian Independent Film Festival, and directed a further film in 2011. He hosted a 2015 talk show, won best male host at the 2021 TVB awards (presented on 2 January 2022) for hosting the game show Family Feud, and in 2022 took the best entertainment host award for the Hong Kong region at the Asian Academy Creative Awards. He won the TVB best male host award again in 2023 and in 2024 mentored a Fuk Luk Sau training programme.
Johnson Lee's cross-dressing and impersonation act with the Fuk Luk Sau trio won wide popularity and drove a wave of television impersonation shows in 2010s Hong Kong; his move from film art studies into hosting also reflects a common route for TVB performers who work across media.
