Edward Tang King-sang (b. 17 May 1946) is a Hong Kong screenwriter, producer and planner, best known for his long collaboration with Jackie Chan. Working for Golden Harvest from the late 1970s through the 1990s, he wrote a large number of action comedies, including such Chan landmarks as Project A (1983), Police Story (1985) and Drunken Master II (1994), the last of which he co-wrote with Yuen Kai-chi and co-produced with Eric Tsang and others. This made him a key behind-the-scenes figure in the golden age of Chan's films. His screenwriting is marked by a knack for fusing perilous action set-pieces with streetwise comic rhythm, helping to define the narrative template of 1980s and 1990s Hong Kong action comedy, often weaving humour and everyday texture between bursts of fighting. Beyond action, he also worked on more dramatic material, writing the lyrics for the theme song of Rouge (1988), directed by Stanley Kwan and starring Anita Mui and Leslie Cheung. In 1995 he directed his only feature as director, Red Zone (爆炸令). Tang's name is closely associated with Golden Harvest and Chan's output, making him one of the significant creative figures of Hong Kong's commercial cinema of the period.
