Ngan Mic-GO, born in 1981 and originally named Ngan Kam-tat, is a Hong Kong film director, photographer and singer. Born in Shishi, Quanzhou in Fujian, he moved to Hong Kong with his family at the age of two and has three elder sisters. He attended a Tuen Mun secondary school run by the Hong Kong Taoist Association, where he won prizes in several singing competitions, and entered the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2001 to study film and television with a focus on editing, running a wedding-photography business with classmates to fund his creative work before leaving in 2003 to photograph full time. In 2004 his company won an outsourced commission from RTHK's television division, for which he edited the documentary A Dying Craft, and in the same year he shot behind-the-scenes material for the feature Leaving Me, Loving You. From 2005 he was the stills photographer for Aaron Kwok's concerts and shot wedding portraits for many entertainment figures, and in 2014 he published the wedding-photography book The Most JOGO Wedding Ever. He directed his first feature, Members Only, in 2016 (released 2017), taking Hong Kong's private-club culture as its subject, and in 2017 directed the ViuTV programme Marriages in Five Movements. In 2023 he finished third in the singing contest Midlife, Sing! 2, and in 2025 he released his first solo single. Moving from wedding and concert photographer to film director and then, through a singing contest, to singer, he is an example of a Hong Kong behind-the-scenes film and television worker crossing over to performing in front of the camera.
Ngan Mic-GO first built a reputation in the industry as a wedding photographer and as the stills photographer for Aaron Kwok's concerts, then directed the film Members Only and the ViuTV programme Marriages in Five Movements, and in 2023 turned singer after finishing third in Midlife, Sing! 2, releasing his first single in 2025, an example of a Hong Kong behind-the-scenes film and television worker crossing over to perform in front of the camera.
