Professor John Lee Chi-Kin is President of The Education University of Hong Kong and Chair Professor of Curriculum and Instruction. He joined the then Hong Kong Institute of Education in 2010, served as Vice-President (Academic) from 2010 to 2019 and as Vice-President (Academic) and Provost from 2019 to 2023, and then became President. EdUHK's biography records that before joining the institute he was Dean of Education and a professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, director of its Centre for University and School Partnership, and a Fellow of United College and Morningside College; he received CUHK's Vice-Chancellor's Exemplary Teaching Award in 1999. Earlier he was a secondary school teacher and a lecturer at the Sir Robert Black College of Education. He graduated from the University of Hong Kong, received an MSc from the University of Oxford, and took an MA in Education, a PhD and a Diploma in Education with distinction at CUHK. His research focuses on curriculum and instruction, geographical and environmental education, life and values education, and teacher development and school improvement. The university records that he is among the top 1% most-cited scientists in the world for career-long impact and that he received the 2026 Outstanding Achievement Award from the Professional Validation Council of Hong Kong Industries. He has been editor of the International Journal of Children's Spirituality, editor-in-chief of Cogent Education and an editorial board member of several international journals, and has edited or written more than 25 books and published over 175 journal articles and book chapters. He has served as a Changjiang Scholar Chair Professor appointed by the Chinese Ministry of Education, an honorary education adviser to Sik Sik Yuen, the Hong Kong Kindergarten Association and the Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers, and an academic adviser to the Association of Inspectors, Education Bureau. He is a member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, holds the UNESCO Chair in Regional Education Development and Lifelong Learning (2019–2023; 2023–2027), is a research fellow of SEAMEO, directs several EdUHK academies and centres, and is a Justice of the Peace.
