Xiaodie Lin is a research assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, taking up the post in November 2024. She took a bachelor's degree in software engineering at Sun Yat-sen University in 2019 and a PhD in computer science and technology at Tsinghua University's Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences in 2024. In August 2024 she became an associate professor at the College of Computer and Data Science at Fuzhou University, and in November that year moved to CUHK. Her training runs from software engineering into computer-science theory, with doctoral work at an interdisciplinary institute, and she now works in a department centred on mechanical and automation engineering.
Lin moved from software engineering into computer-science theory and then into a mechanical and automation engineering department, reflecting the role of interdisciplinary information science within engineering faculties.
