Jack Pui Kit Ma is a lecturer in the Department of Information Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, joining in September 2023. He took a bachelor's degree in mathematics and information engineering at CUHK in 2016 and a PhD in information engineering there in 2023, the two stages covering theory and engineering respectively. His research interests include anonymous credentials, privacy-preserving machine learning and secure multiparty computation: anonymous credentials prove a qualification without revealing identity, privacy-preserving machine learning keeps raw data from leaking during training, and secure multiparty computation lets parties compute jointly without disclosing their inputs. He now concentrates on teaching, with his work connecting cryptography and machine learning.
Ma works on computation and authentication without revealing data, a direction tied directly to privacy regulation and data governance in machine learning, and one of the active areas of cryptography in the past decade.
