Yunjian Xu is an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was a postdoctoral scholar at the Center for the Mathematics of Information at the California Institute of Technology from 2012 to 2013, then an assistant professor at the Singapore University of Technology and Design from 2013 to 2017, before joining CUHK. His training and research centre on applying mathematical methods to engineering systems: Caltech's center studies the meeting point of information, decision-making and mathematics, while SUTD is known for crossing design with engineering.
Xu's path runs from a Caltech postdoc to an SUTD assistant professorship and then CUHK, with research consistently on joining mathematical methods with engineering systems.
