Diwen Xue is an assistant professor in the Department of Information Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Before joining CUHK he was a research fellow at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he also took his PhD; he completed his bachelor's degree at New York University. His research sits where security and privacy meet systems and networking: on one side studying how network adversaries behave, on the other building practical defences for an increasingly adversarial internet. The field requires understanding both attack techniques and system implementation, an empirical strand of network security.
Xue focuses on attack and defence in real networks, handling privacy questions through measurement and system implementation, a mainstream direction in recent network-security research.
