YUAN Wu Scott

Yuan Wu, Scott, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong; the Faculty of Engineering staff list records his post as Department Vice-Chairman (Graduate) and Associate Professor. He directs the Advanced Biomedical Imaging Laboratory (ABI Lab), which is housed in the Mong Man Wai Building. The laboratory's website records research themes including optical coherence tomography for ophthalmology, intraluminal imaging and intra-operative applications, advanced endomicroscopy with computational optics, and machine learning for imaging functions and quantitative image analysis. A university press release records that he led the CUHK team working with Beijing Tongren Hospital on VisionFM, a generalist ophthalmic image foundation model trained on 3.4 million ophthalmic images from more than half a million individuals, able to process eight common ophthalmic image modalities and to predict systemic biomarkers and intracranial tumours from fundus images. The official pages do not state his degrees, the year he joined CUHK or his year of birth. The laboratory's news page records that its work on vascular-targeted photothermal therapy was published in Biomedical Optics Express in 2020.
