嘉慶《新安縣志》卷之十三 防省志「災異」門逐年記新安縣天災（掃描本第 179 頁上下兩葉，版心「卷之十三 災異」頁次五、六），同兩葉所見包括：乾隆二十二年正月十五夜霜厚寸許，是年米貴；二十五年八月初九日颶風；二十六年八月初十日颶風；三十三年五月初七至十三連日大雨如注；三十五年閏五月大雨，七月十三日地震；三十七年狼虎成羣傷人甚多；五十一年蝗食稻，秋冬旱大饑；五十二年又大旱，斗米洋銀一員，人多餓死；五十三年二月雨雹；五十六年颶風屢作；嘉慶二年閏六月颶風一連四作，拔木倒屋甚多；六年二月初五夜星入月中復出；七年三月初三日巳刻白虹貫日；九年正月連雨，鹽大貴，每百斤洋銀十二員；十年二月有黑氣在前紅氣在後，起於城西南海上，至城東北而去，暴風飛捲，路上行人有忽高丈餘昏迷不知人事者；十七年邑東路蝗食稻；十九年八月雨雹，十月大雨；二十三年九月初九大雨潦水溢，鎮沙橋岸皆決，沙河洞等處阪田俱被沖壓崩陷。呢條係由公共領域掃描本人手核讀出嚟嘅內容事實（年份照原文年號，米價、死人數等照原文抄錄），同志錄並排對照：志錄亦有同期災異條目而來源同係呢部縣志——例如乾隆五十三年二月「有冰雹降下之紀錄」、嘉慶十九年八月（1814 年 9 至 10 月）「香港出現雨雹」，同縣志「五十三年二月雨雹」、「十九年八月雨雹」逐條對得上。本站唔會把縣志嘅農曆月日換算成西曆，亦唔會把呢類敘述當統計數字。

The “natural calamities” section of juan 13 in the Jiaqing Xin’an County Gazetteer records the county’s disasters year by year (both leaves of page 179 of the scan, running head “juan 13, natural calamities”, folios 5 and 6); the two leaves carry, among others: in Qianlong 22, frost an inch thick on the night of the fifteenth day of the first month, and dear rice that year; in Qianlong 25, a typhoon on the ninth day of the eighth month; in Qianlong 26, a typhoon on the tenth day of the eighth month; in Qianlong 33, pouring rain from the seventh to the thirteenth day of the fifth month; in Qianlong 35, heavy rain in the intercalary fifth month and an earthquake on the thirteenth day of the seventh month; in Qianlong 37, wolves and tigers in packs that injured many; in Qianlong 51, locusts eating the rice and a great famine after an autumn drought; in Qianlong 52, another drought in which a peck of rice cost one silver dollar and many starved; in Qianlong 53, hail in the second month; in Qianlong 56, repeated typhoons; in Jiaqing 2, four typhoons in a row in the intercalary sixth month that uprooted trees and toppled houses; in Jiaqing 6, a star entering the moon and emerging again on the night of the fifth day of the second month; in Jiaqing 7, a white rainbow spanning the sun at the hour of the snake on the third day of the third month; in Jiaqing 9, continuous rain in the first month and salt as dear as twelve dollars a picul; in Jiaqing 10, a black vapour ahead of a red one rising from the sea south-west of the city and passing to the north-east, the whirlwind lifting travellers more than ten feet and leaving them senseless; in Jiaqing 17, locusts eating the rice on the county’s eastern road; in Jiaqing 19, hail in the eighth month and heavy rain in the tenth; and in Jiaqing 23, a great flood on the ninth day of the ninth month that burst the banks at the Zhensa bridge and buried or broke the fields of Shahe Dong and elsewhere. This content fact was read by hand from the public-domain scan (reign years, rice prices and death tolls are transcribed as printed) and sits alongside the Chronicles archive, whose entries for the same events — hail recorded in the second month of Qianlong 53, and rain and hail in Hong Kong in the eighth month of Jiaqing 19 (September–October 1814) — match the gazetteer’s “hail in the second month of the 53rd year” and “hail in the eighth month of the 19th year”. This site never converts the gazetteer’s lunar months and days into Gregorian dates, and never treats such narrative notices as statistics.
