In October 1939, overseas Chinese in South America donated a large quantity of Western medicine to the Eighth Route Army's Hong Kong office, while overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia also donated 20 trucks and two cars; these items were later received by the Eighth Route Army's Guilin office.
