Density and gaps — read this before quoting any count

• 呢個表量度嘅係收錄密度，唔係歷史事件密度：條目數反映《香港志》已出版卷冊（現時 5 冊電子書）嘅收錄取向。實測最多條目嘅十年（2010–2019 年代）有 4061 條，最少嘅（2020–2029 年代）有 67 條——呢個差額主要係「已上線卷冊主要講當代」，唔可以讀成「近代多事幾十倍」。要引用條目數之前，先睇呢一頁。

  This page measures what has been COLLECTED, not how much happened: the counts mirror the coverage of the published volumes currently online (5 e-books). The fullest decade (2010s) holds 4061 entries and the thinnest (2020s) holds 67; that gap is an artefact of which volumes are online, not evidence that more happened. Read this page before quoting any entry count.

• 未繫年條目 7718 條（原文冇西曆年份）唔入任何十年切片；另有 2553 條因合規紅線未上線（逐字重疊風險 2507 條、口語風險 46 條）。所以切片數字唔等於「全志收咗幾多條」。

  7718 undated entries (no Gregorian year in the source text) sit outside every decade slice, and 2553 more are held back on compliance grounds (2507 verbatim-overlap risk, 46 colloquial risk). Slice totals are therefore not the size of the sources.

• 切片由 1840 年代起，每十年一段；之前嘅已繫年條目（625 條）由遠古時間軸按時代分節（按時代而唔係按十年，兩者唔可以互相冒充）。2020 年代係部分十年，切片只到最後一年。切片之後嘅年份（7 條）屬計劃／推算目標，唔屬已發生事件，另段列出。

  Slices start at the 1840s and run in decades; earlier dated entries (625) are cut by era in the ancient timeline instead — the two cuts are not interchangeable. The 2020s slice is a partial decade. Years beyond the last slice (7 entries) are plans or projections rather than events that happened, and are listed separately.

• 「代表條目」係按固定規則抽樣（年份升序；先取日期精確到日而且可以獨立閱讀嘅條目，每年最多一條；唔夠先放寬到每年兩條，最後取消年份上限），每個切片 12 條——係抽樣，唔係「最重要」或者「最著名」。

  “Sample entries” are drawn by a fixed rule (years ascending; day-precision, standalone-readable entries first, at most one per year; then two per year, then no cap), 12 per slice — a sample, not a claim about importance.

• 同一原書頁嘅條目多數跨幾個年份（實測 2743 個書頁組之中 2135 組跨多過一年），所以本站唔會把「同一書頁嘅鄰近條目」假裝連去單一年份頁；「鄰近條目」現階段以原書頁碼分佈（下表）呈現，每條條目自己嘅頁碼照樣喺條目卡同引文出現。

  Entries sharing one page of the original book usually span several years (2135 of 2743 page groups cross more than one year), so this site does not pretend a page group maps to a single year page. Neighbourhood is shown as the page-number distribution below; each entry still carries its own page number in the entry card and citation.

Boundaries — what this page does NOT cover

• 切片之前：1841 年之前嘅已繫年條目共 677 條， 由 遠古時間軸按時代分節（9 個時代）。 十年係機械寬度、時代係原書／學術慣例，兩種切法唔可以互相冒充；兩者邊界相差 52 條 （1840 年同時落喺 1840 年代切片同遠古時間軸，因為十年係完整單位，唔會切斷）。

  Before the slices: 677 dated entries are cut by era in the ancient timeline (9 eras). The two cuts differ by 52 entries at the seam and are not interchangeable.

• 切片之後：7 條屬 2020 年代之後嘅計劃／推算年份 （2030、2032、2033、2038、2039、2045），唔屬「已發生事件」， 所以唔入密度切片，只列出年份頁： 2030 2032 2033 2038 2039 2045。

  Beyond the last slice: 7 entries carry planned or projected years; they are shown as year pages only and never counted as events that happened.

• 未繫年：7718 條原文冇西曆年份，唔屬任何十年， 由 未繫年分頁按專題瀏覽。

  Undated: 7718 entries carry no Gregorian year and sit outside the decades.

• 已核大事嘅對照：日級大事可以用「同一日」機械接駁志錄（146 條有同日誌錄、 合共 525 條配對）；同年比對實測係噪音、唔做，而只有 9條大事嘅來源同志錄同本。完整記述見 /chronicle。

  Same-year matching is deliberately NOT done: measured, it pairs unrelated entries (the year itself becomes a shared string) and is pure noise. A missing cross-reference is better than a plausible-looking false one. Only 9 milestones cite the same book as the archive; the other 488 draw on departmental histories, yearbooks and press releases that are not among the five volumes online. Cross-referencing is therefore sparse by source structure, not by a failed match — and nothing is filled in by guesswork.
