Background
原曲是愛爾蘭樂隊 The Cranberries(小紅莓)1992年的首張單曲〈Dreams〉(其後收入1993年專輯《Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?》),由主音 Dolores O'Riordan 與結他手 Noel Hogan 作曲。
'Mung Zung Jan' ('Dream Person') is sung by Faye Wong with Cantonese lyrics by Thomas Chow and arrangement by Adrian Chan, released on 29 June 1994 on her Cinepoly Cantonese album Random Thoughts (胡思亂想) and featured in Wong Kar-wai's film Chungking Express; a Mandarin version, Zheng Tuo, also exists. Its melody is 'Dreams', the 1992 debut single by the Irish band The Cranberries (later included on their 1993 album Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?), written by vocalist Dolores O'Riordan and guitarist Noel Hogan. Drawing on O'Riordan's yodelling-style vocals, Wong turned the Irish rock gem into a dreamlike Cantonese track that, through Chungking Express, became a classic of both Chinese-language pop and cinema.
