Background
My Dearest (1993) is a signature Cantonese ballad by Vivian Chow, released on her album of the same name (PolyGram/Polydor, 9 September 1993). It adapts Saiai by the Japanese singer Yoshie Kashiwabara (1984), with words and music by Miyuki Nakajima. The Cantonese lyrics were written by Hacken Lee and arranged by Anthony Lun, reshaping the original's parting sorrow into polished, poetic Cantonese verses. A Mandarin version, Ai Wo Suo Ai, also exists, and Lee's frequent live performances of the song in later years have revived interest in the three-decade-old melody.
