北宋天聖元年至元豐八年期間，一位名為侯五郎的進士由廣東番禺移居至東莞縣河上鄉，被視為該鄉侯姓家族的開基祖先；及至明朝初期，其第十一世後裔侯卓峯進一步拓展河上鄉。
Between the first year of the Tiansheng era and the eighth year of the Yuanfeng era of the Northern Song, a jinshi named Hou Wulang moved from Panyu in Guangdong to Heshan Heung in Dongguan County and is regarded as the founding ancestor of the Hou clan there; by the early Ming dynasty, his eleventh-generation descendant Hou Zhuofeng further developed Heshan Heung.
