From 4 November 1839, British warships launched attacks on Kwun Chung in a battle lasting ten days, during which the British assaulted the Qing positions on Kwun Chung hill six times and were repulsed each time, after which the British warships and opium vessels left the Tsim Sha Tsui waters; this was the Battle of Kwun Chung.
