The Marriage Ordinance 1875 was enacted by the Hong Kong Government on 10 April 1875, requiring the Secretary for Chinese Affairs to keep registration records of all previous forms of marriage; from the date the ordinance took effect, all marriages in Hong Kong had to be registered with the Secretary for Chinese Affairs.

Hong Kong's first lighthouse, Cape D'Aguilar Lighthouse, began operation after a lighting ceremony on 16 April 1875 and ceased service in 1896.
