1914年3月6日，英國樞密院司法委員會就一宗由香港高等法院轉介的刑事上訴進行聆訊，此類上訴屬首次出現。案件涉及一名英軍人員，他被指控在廣州殺害其上級；香港高等法院是依據英國在華所擁有的治外法權來審理該案。

On 6 March 1914, the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council heard a criminal appeal referred from the Hong Kong High Court, the first appeal of its kind, involving a British military serviceman accused of killing his superior in Guangzhou, which the Hong Kong High Court tried under British extraterritorial jurisdiction in China.
