1917年7月1日起，天文台改以目視方式發布熱帶氣旋警告，按颱風強弱設一號至七號信號；颱風炮及風暴信號亦於當日停用。
From 1 July 1917, the Observatory switched to issuing tropical cyclone warnings visually, with signals No. 1 to No. 7 according to typhoon intensity; the typhoon gun and storm signals were discontinued on the same day.
