1918年4月，港府就德輔道中一個未經批准設立的無線電站，向兩名華人提出起訴。控方稱，該站雖然只供實驗之用，但接收範圍能遠及50英里，因此屬於違法。裁判官最後判兩人各罰25元，另需繳付100元保證金以擔保行為一年，涉案無線電設備亦遭沒收。
In April 1918, the Hong Kong government prosecuted two Chinese men over an unauthorised wireless station on Des Voeux Road Central; the prosecution said that although the station was for experimental use only, its reception range reached as far as 50 miles and was therefore illegal, and the magistrate fined each of them $25 plus a $100 bond to keep the peace for one year, with the wireless equipment also confiscated.
