1922年2月1日，香港政府認為中華海員工業聯合總會對和平與秩序構成危害，遂宣佈該會屬非法組織，派出軍警搜查其辦事處、封閉會址，並把匾額拆除。
On 1 February 1922, the Hong Kong Government, considering the Chinese Seamen's Union a danger to peace and order, declared it an illegal organisation, sent troops and police to search its office, closed the premises and removed its plaque.
