1938-05-28 · 荔枝角

自1938年5月28日開始，東華三院由於空間不敷應用，無法收容的肺結核患者，轉交荔枝角醫院分批接收。該院由港府撥款，將原荔枝角拘留營改建，營運工作則交由東華三院承擔。

From 28 May 1938, tuberculosis patients whom the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals could not accommodate due to lack of space were transferred in batches to Lai Chi Kok Hospital, which was converted by the Hong Kong government from the former Lai Chi Kok internment camp with government funding and operated by the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals.

1938年，香港爆發天花，至5月30日已有1920人病逝。

In 1938, a smallpox outbreak broke out in Hong Kong, and by 30 May 1,920 people had died.
