1960年2月12日，李鄭屋村木屋區發生火警，焚毀木屋642間，造成四名兒童喪生、五人受傷，受災人數為2397人。
On 12 February 1960, a fire broke out in the Lei Cheng Uk squatter area, destroying 642 huts, killing four children and injuring five, with 2,397 people affected.

1960年2月21日，屯門的青山精神病院開始運作，最初一批病人是從西營盤域多利精神病院轉送過來；到了1961年3月27日，該院舉辦啟用典禮，後來改名為青山醫院。
On 21 February 1960, Castle Peak Mental Hospital in Tuen Mun began operating, with its first batch of patients transferred from Victoria Mental Hospital in Sai Ying Pun; on 27 March 1961 the hospital held its opening ceremony and was later renamed Castle Peak Hospital.

The Children's News was first published on 27 February 1960, featuring comics adapted from fairy tales, single-panel cartoons, student contributions, book introductions and news of student activities, and it ceased publication in September 1966.
