1960年9月17日，九龍大坑東木屋區發生火警，燒毀木屋超過300間，造成四人死亡，其中一名死者為孕婦，逾4500人痛失家園。
On 17 September 1960, a fire broke out in the Tai Hang Tung squatter area in Kowloon, burning over 300 huts, killing four people including a pregnant woman, and leaving more than 4,500 homeless.

1960年9月19日，第三師範專科學校正式開課，起初以葛量洪師範專科學校分校模式運作，並借用樂富老虎巖官立小學校舍；至1961年10月27日，校名改為柏立基師範專科學校。
On 19 September 1960, the Third Teachers' Training College formally began classes, initially operating as a branch of Grantham Teachers' Training College and borrowing the premises of Lo Fu Ngam Tiger Rock Government Primary School; on 27 October 1961 its name was changed to Sir Robert Black Teachers' Training College.
