1978年12月23日，一艘在巴拿馬註冊的貨輪「匯豐號」，載有大約2700名越南難民，本應從曼谷開往高雄，但該船意圖進入香港水域，最終遭港府水警輪及英國海軍艦隻攔截。
On 23 December 1978, a Panama-registered cargo ship, the "Hui Feng", carrying about 2,700 Vietnamese refugees and originally bound from Bangkok to Kaohsiung, attempted to enter Hong Kong waters but was intercepted by Hong Kong Government marine police launches and British naval vessels.
