Background

'Cin Cin Kyut Go' ('A Thousand Songs') is a Cantonese song sung by Priscilla Chan, with lyrics by Richard Lam and arrangement by Tony Arevalo, released in 1989 on the PolyGram album 'Forever Your Friend'. The original is the Japanese single 'Yūyake no Uta' by Masahiko Kondo, composed by Kōji Makaino and released on 3 February 1989. That same year the melody spawned several Cantonese versions in Hong Kong, including Anita Mui's 'Sik Joeng Zi Go' and Blue Jeans' 'Mou Liu Si Hau' (1990), a phenomenon dubbed the 'four siblings' row. Because Mui's version needed lyric changes for the film 'A Better Tomorrow III', Chan's version was plugged first and won the 1989 Ultimate Song Chart 'My Favourite Song' award. The correct title uses the character 闋, often misspelled as 闕.
