Notes and definition
AFCD, “Capture Fisheries Industry of Hong Kong”: “The industry consists of some 4,980 fishing vessels and about 10,120 local fishermen.” This is a fisheries-only figure, but it counts only people in fishing operations (it excludes fish farmers, Fish Marketing Organisation staff and ancillary trades); it is the following year’s counterpart of the Hong Kong Yearbook 2024 line of about 10,180 local fishermen, not a rival basis, and it must not be added to or subtracted from the yearbook’s combined 17,759 persons directly employed in agriculture and fisheries (see /calibre#farm-fishery-employment).
