鄭裕彤（1925–2016），廣東順德人，新世界發展創辦人之一，人稱「彤叔」。他父親係廣州的綢緞商人，同黃金商人周至元係同鄉好友；鄭裕彤只讀過小學，1938年抗日戰爭爆發後便輟學，到澳門周大福珠寶金行由小夥計做起，1943年升任金舖掌管，同年與指腹為婚的周翠英結婚，1956年繼承周大福。他首創「四條九」足金成色標準，1964年更在南非購入持有戴比爾斯鑽石胚牌照的公司。1950年代他已在跑馬地、銅鑼灣興建住宅，1967年六七暴動後大舉購入地產物業；1970年他與何善衡、郭得勝合組新世界發展，個人佔股五成七並出任董事總經理，1972年公司上市，1982年接任主席。1980年代他投資十八億元與貿易發展局合作興建灣仔香港會議展覽中心，並參與廣州中國大酒店等內地項目，又一度購入亞洲電視股權。2011年他把私人持有的周大福珠寶上市，2012年退任新世界主席，2016年9月29日在家安詳辭世，享年九十一歲。

Cheng Yu-tung (1925–2016), known as 'Uncle Tung', was born in Shunde, Guangdong, and co-founded New World Development. His father was a silk merchant in Guangzhou and a friend of the gold trader Chow Chi-yuen; Cheng had only a primary education and, after the Sino-Japanese war broke out in 1938, left school to work as a junior in Chow Tai Fook jewellers in Macau, rising to run the shop in 1943 — the year he married Chow's daughter Chow Tsui-ying, to whom he had been betrothed before birth. He inherited Chow Tai Fook in 1956, pioneered the 'four nines' (999.9) gold standard and in 1964 bought a South African company holding a De Beers diamond rough licence. In the 1950s he built flats in Happy Valley and Causeway Bay, and after the 1967 riots he bought property heavily. In 1970 he joined Ho Sin Hang and Kwok Tak-seng to found New World Development, taking 57% and the post of managing director, and listing in 1972; he became chairman in 1982. In the 1980s he invested HK$1.8 billion with the Trade Development Council to build the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai, backed mainland projects such as the China Hotel in Guangzhou, and briefly bought into ATV. He listed Chow Tai Fook Jewellery in 2011, stepped down as New World chairman in 2012, and died peacefully at home on 29 September 2016, aged 91.
