吳光正1946年生於上海，祖籍浙江慈溪，係船王包玉剛的次女婿，隆豐環球集團主席。他五歲隨父母移居香港，就讀聖士提反書院，其後赴美升學，1970年在辛辛那提大學取得物理及數學學士學位，1971年再於哥倫比亞大學商學院取得工商管理碩士，畢業後曾在紐約及香港的美國大通銀行任職。1973年他與包玉剛次女包陪容結婚，1975年加入包玉剛旗下的環球船運集團出任董事；1981年包玉剛收購九龍倉集團後，他於1986年至1994年出任九龍倉主席，其後一度退任，2002年復任至2015年卸任，並曾於1986年至1996年執掌會德豐集團。1996年他辭去所有上市公司職務，參加首屆香港特別行政區行政長官選舉，最終敗於董建華。公職方面，他曾任香港醫院管理局主席、香港理工大學校董會主席同香港貿易發展局主席（2000–2007），並出任全國政協常委，分別於1998年及2012年獲頒金紫荊星章同大紫荊勳章。

Peter Woo Kwong-ching, born in Shanghai in 1946 to a family from Cixi, Zhejiang, is chairman of Wheelock and Company and the son-in-law of the shipping tycoon Y. K. Pao. He moved to Hong Kong with his parents at five and was educated at St Stephen's College before studying in the United States, taking a bachelor's degree in physics and mathematics at the University of Cincinnati in 1970 and an MBA at Columbia Business School in 1971; he then worked for Chase Manhattan in New York and Hong Kong. In 1973 he married Pao's second daughter, Bessie Pao, and in 1975 joined Pao's World-Wide Shipping group as a director. After Pao's takeover of Wharf Holdings in 1981, Woo chaired Wharf from 1986 to 1994, stepped back, and returned as chairman from 2002 until 2015; he also chaired Wheelock Marden from 1986 to 1996. In 1996 he resigned all listed-company posts to contest the first election for Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR, losing to Tung Chee-hwa. In public life he chaired the Hospital Authority and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University council and the Trade Development Council from 2000 to 2007, and served as a Standing Committee member of the CPPCC; he received the Gold Bauhinia Star in 1998 and the Grand Bauhinia Medal in 2012.
