顧嘉煇

顧嘉煇（1931–2023），廣州出世、香港長大，自學作曲，成為無綫電視嘅音樂總監。同黃霑合作嘅「煇黃組合」寫出定義香港嘅歌曲：《獅子山下》《上海灘》《鐵血丹心》《世間始終你好》……佢嘅旋律將粵曲韻味同西式管弦融合，透過電視劇教曉幾代香港人唱出自己嘅身份。2007年獲頒金紫荊星章，2023年加拿大溫哥華離世，享壽92歲，被尊稱為「粵語流行曲教父」。

Joseph Koo Kar-fai (1931-2023), born in Guangzhou and raised in Hong Kong, taught himself composition and became TVB's musical architect. Partnered with lyricist James Wong, he wrote the songs that defined the city: 'Below the Lion Rock', 'The Bund', 'Tai Chi theme from Legend of the Condor Heroes'. His melodies fused Cantonese opera inflections with Western orchestration, and through TV drama they taught generations of Hong Kongers to sing their own identity.
