English

Kan Tai-keung, born in Panyu in 1942 and a tailor for ten years before turning to design, became Hong Kong's most influential graphic designer. His logo for the Bank of China — a sprouting coin — is recognised across the world, and his posters fusing Chinese ink aesthetics with modernist geometry made 'Eastern modernity' a design language. A dedicated educator and brush calligrapher, he shaped two generations of Chinese designers.
