張叔平係王家衛電影嘅視覺靈魂：《花樣年華》張曼玉嘅旗袍、《重慶森林》嘅霓虹街道、《東邪西毒》嘅荒漠色調，都由佢嘅美術、服裝同剪接塑造。佢八十年代起同譚家明、吳宇森、關錦鵬等導演合作，美術指導同服裝設計獎項多不勝數，《花樣年華》更為佢贏得康城最佳藝術成就獎。佢定義咗世界影迷心目中「香港嘅樣子」，係華語影壇最具辨識度嘅美術大師。

William Chang Suk-ping is the visual soul of Wong Kar-wai's cinema: the qipaos of Maggie Cheung in In the Mood for Love, the neon streets of Chungking Express, the bleached deserts of Ashes of Time, all shaped by his art direction, costumes and editing. Working since the 1980s with directors from Yim Ho to John Woo, he won Cannes' technical grand prize for In the Mood for Love and defined a whole visual idea of Hong Kong.
