社工嘅薪酬取決於僱主。社會福利署屬公務員職系，按公務員事務局公布嘅總薪級表支薪；非政府機構（NGO）就按機構自己嘅職級表，多數同政府薪級表掛鈎，實際水平視乎資助模式（整筆撥款抑或項目資助）同機構規模。所以同一個職銜，喺唔同機構可以有差別，本站唔列月薪估算；睇招聘時要問清楚職級對應嘅薪級、增薪安排、約滿酬金同強積金。 發展方向：前線社工 → 單位主管 → 服務督導／服務經理 → 機構高層管理；亦可以轉往社會政策研究同倡議工作。

The Social Workers Registration Board divides registered social workers into two categories: Category 1 is for holders of a Board-recognised social work degree or diploma who meet the statutory requirements for direct registration. Category 2 is for those who do not yet hold Category 1 qualifications but have been employed or accepted for a social work post; they must complete the recognised qualification within the Board's specified timeframe to upgrade to Category 1. All registrants must renew their registration annually and submit required documentation to maintain valid status.
Pay depends on the employer. The Social Welfare Department is a civil service grade paid on the Master Pay Scale published by the Civil Service Bureau, while NGOs follow their own grade structures, usually linked to the government scale and depending on the funding model (lump-sum grant or project funding) and the size of the organisation. The same job title can therefore be paid differently across organisations, so this site prints no monthly estimate; when reading an advertisement, ask which pay scale the grade maps to, how increments work, and about terminal gratuities and MPF. Career direction: frontline social worker → unit supervisor → service coordinator or service manager → senior management, or a move into social policy research and advocacy.
