1872年9月24日，香港數名華人紳商共同具名向港督堅尼地提出訴求，促請其對強迫良家婦女賣淫之舉予以從嚴究辦。

On 24 September 1872, several Chinese gentry-merchants in Hong Kong jointly petitioned Governor Kennedy, urging strict prosecution of the forced prostitution of respectable women.
