1918-01-22 · 灣仔機利臣街
1918年1月22日，警方在灣仔機利臣街一幢樓宇內執行搜查任務時，遭賊人開槍還擊，雙方爆發槍戰。港府其後調動駐港英軍前往增援，總督梅含理更親自到場指揮，並向對方喊話勸降。是次事件共造成八人死亡，當中有五名警務人員。
On 22 January 1918, while police were conducting a search in a building on Gresson Street in Wan Chai, robbers opened fire in return and a gun battle broke out; the Hong Kong Government then mobilised British troops stationed in Hong Kong as reinforcements, and Governor Francis Henry May personally went to the scene to direct operations and call on the other side to surrender, with the incident causing eight deaths, five of them police officers.
