1928年6月1日，政府接收GOW作公眾廣播測試，台址其後遷至山頂。
On 1 June 1928, the government took over GOW for public broadcasting tests, and the station was subsequently moved to Victoria Peak.

1928年6月20日，港府轄下之香港電台以G.O.W.作台號，當天起展開廣播訊號測試，此乃香港第一家公營廣播機構；其正式啟播典禮則於翌年10月8日舉辦。
On 20 June 1928, Radio Hong Kong under the Hong Kong government began broadcasting signal tests under the call sign G.O.W., making it Hong Kong's first public broadcasting institution; its official launch ceremony was held on 8 October of the following year.
