1940年6月1日，香港政府為防範敵方在香港從事破壞活動，徵集了數十名年齡已超過服役年限的外籍人士，並將他們組成一支志願隊伍。
On 1 June 1940, to guard against enemy sabotage in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Government recruited several dozen expatriates who were beyond military service age and formed them into a volunteer unit.

1940年6月11日，香港政府公佈意大利對英國宣戰的消息，隨即指示逮捕居港意籍人士，凍結意方在港財產，同時對意大利駐港領事館、教會與學校實施監察。
On 11 June 1940, the Hong Kong Government announced Italy's declaration of war on Britain and immediately ordered the arrest of Italian residents in Hong Kong, the freezing of Italian property in the territory, and surveillance of the Italian consulate, churches and schools in Hong Kong.

1940年6月26日，英方為阻擋敵軍推進，把粵港邊界深圳河上兩座橋樑予以炸毀；在此之前，日軍已於深圳完成集結。
On 26 June 1940, to block the enemy's advance, the British blew up two bridges over the Shenzhen River on the Guangdong-Hong Kong boundary; before this, Japanese troops had already completed their assembly in Shenzhen.
