On 18 July 1946, the Observatory hoisted the hurricane signal because of an unnamed typhoon, and the signal remained in force for 4 hours 45 minutes.

1946年7月18日，香港受颱風吹襲，香港天文台發出二戰後首個十號颶風信號；風暴造成兩艘輪船及兩艘漁船損毀，市區大量房屋受破壞，港島災情最嚴重，並有11人喪生、7人受傷。
On 18 July 1946, Hong Kong was struck by a typhoon, and the Hong Kong Observatory issued the first No. 10 hurricane signal after the Second World War; the storm damaged two steamships and two fishing boats, destroyed many buildings in the urban area, caused the most severe damage on Hong Kong Island, and left 11 dead and 7 injured.
