1953年10月16日，日本東京銀行香港分行開始營業，成為二次大戰後第一間在港設立的日資銀行。

On 16 October 1953, the Hong Kong branch of the Bank of Tokyo began operations, becoming the first Japanese bank established in Hong Kong after the Second World War.

1953年10月22日，美方放寬輸港限制，美國出口商自此不必取得商務部特別批准，即可向香港輸出13類非戰略物資，其中包括食物、紙張和化妝品。

On 22 October 1953, the United States relaxed restrictions on exports to Hong Kong, so that American exporters no longer needed special approval from the Department of Commerce to export 13 categories of non-strategic goods to Hong Kong, including food, paper and cosmetics.

1953年10月26日，香港政府批准黃金轉口，惟從事轉口之商人須預先取得進出口牌照。

On 26 October 1953, the Hong Kong Government approved the re-export of gold, but traders engaged in re-export had to obtain an import and export licence in advance.
