On 16 March 1954, the Hong Kong Buddhist Association organised the territory's first Buddhist relic exhibition, displaying a Buddha relic that India had given to Japan and that stopped over in Hong Kong, arranged at Tung Lin Kok Yuen for believers to view for one hour.
