On 10 June 1954, Hong Kong China Travel Service Co., Ltd. was formally incorporated, having been independently registered after restructuring from the Hong Kong branch of China Travel Service, and remained the only travel agency with mainland Chinese backing in Hong Kong for a long period before the 1980s.
