How much does an accident and emergency attendance cost?
Public A&E services are charged under the Hospital Authority’s official fee schedule, at different rates for eligible and non-eligible persons. The amount is revised over time, so the published schedule governs.
Is there an official ranking of Hong Kong hospitals?
No. There is no government-issued ranking of Hong Kong hospitals. Public hospitals are run by the Hospital Authority through clusters, and official data covers volumes, waiting times and quality indicators rather than league tables.
Government charges fall into categories by department and statute: water charges are set by the Water Supplies Department, electricity tariffs by the two power companies under regulation, and public-hospital fees by the Hospital Authority under government policy — each with official schedules and adjustment records.
