飛行經驗要求:CPL(飛機)最少二百五十小時、CPL(直升機)最少一百八十五小時;ATPL(飛機)最少一千五百小時、ATPL(直升機)最少一千二百小時。

What pilots do day to day
Before departure pilots brief, calculate fuel, check the aircraft and verify the flight plan; in the air they fly the aircraft, monitor systems and handle communications and navigation. When weather or mechanical problems arise they must judge quickly and follow procedures, sometimes diverting or planning an alternate. Long-haul flights usually rotate among a multi-crew complement with clear handovers. The work spans time zones and irregular shifts, so fitness and focus matter as much as technical skill. Pilots must also hold a valid Certificate of Test (C of T) or Certificate of Experience (C of E) to exercise their licence privileges.
The gate: CAD licences and medicals
Professional pilot licences are issued by the CAD as CPL, MPL and ATPL. A CPL applicant must be at least 18 and an ATPL applicant at least 21, and all must hold a valid Hong Kong Class 1 medical certificate. Experience requirements: CPL (Aeroplane) a minimum of 250 hours and CPL (Helicopter) 185 hours; ATPL (Aeroplane) 1,500 hours and ATPL (Helicopter) 1,200 hours. Applicants must also pass theory examinations and a General Flight Test. The theory examinations cover a navigation group (aviation law, flight planning, navigation, meteorology, radio aids) and a technical group (principles of flight, airframe systems, engines and more).
From cadet to ATPL
A common route is to join an airline cadet programme, complete CPL and Instrument Rating (IR) training at an approved flying training organisation, then build hours towards an ATPL. Airlines also require candidates to pass interviews and medicals. Progress from cadet to captain follows the airline's training and assessment arrangements, and the actual hour and certificate requirements are as published by the CAD and the airline. An Instrument Rating (IR) itself requires a minimum of 250 flying hours (aeroplanes) or 200 hours (helicopters).
