懲教署職員負責羈押、院所秩序同更生工作，屬紀律部隊；入職一般由二級懲教助理起步，要通過體能測驗、面試同背景審查。

Its advantage is disclosure: ranks, pay scales, academic, fitness and language requirements are all published, and posts advertised on or after 1 July 2022 also require the Basic Law and National Security Law Test.

Institutional work runs on discipline and procedure: roll calls, patrols, searches and escorts to a schedule, recording incidents and writing reports, and handling conflict or distress among prisoners. On the rehabilitation side, officers support education, vocational training and drug treatment programmes.
As advertised by the department: secondary education, a fitness test, a vision requirement, interviews and vetting, plus a Basic Law and National Security Law Test pass for posts advertised from 1 July 2022. Recruits live in during training and must pass assessments.
Pay follows the Disciplined Services pay scale with the entry point in the recruitment notice plus shift allowances; actual figures are as published and this site prints none. Rank-and-file staff may move into the officer grade through service and promotion examinations, then progress to senior and chief officer ranks.

政務主任是政府的政策與公共管理工作。2025/26 年度招聘以一級或二級榮譽學士學位為學歷門檻，並要通過綜合招聘考試、聯合招聘考試及《基本法及香港國安法》測試。
行政主任專長資源與系統管理，調派到各政策局及部門。學士學位即可投考，不一定要榮譽等級——與政務主任不是同一條路。
投考警員須為香港特別行政區永久性居民，並符合學歷、語文、《基本法及香港國安法》測試及體能等要求；錄取後會在警察學院接受住宿訓練。
消防員（行動／海務）屬消防處紀律部隊職位，主要執行滅火、救援及防火職務。入職以文憑試／會考學歷為主，並須通過視力、體能、模擬實際工作及能力傾向筆試。
