English
Day-to-day work
The job runs on a schedule: visiting clinics, hospitals or pharmacies as planned, presenting product information, handling enquiries, then writing reports and following up orders. You also support exhibitions, medical conferences and training events, with workload tied to promotion cycles.
Entry and regulation
A sub-degree or degree is usual, with science, pharmacy or biomedical backgrounds an advantage, and employers provide product and compliance training. Promoting prescription medicines must follow the Pharmacy and Poisons Ordinance and related codes, and representatives may not advertise prescription medicines to the public or give medical advice.
Pay and progression
Pay is usually a base salary plus sales or target bonus with no statutory scale; travel, entertainment and commission arrangements vary by company, so this site prints no estimate. The route runs representative, senior representative, product specialist or product manager, then marketing or commercial director, with moves into medical or regulatory affairs.
