註冊基本要求
除《藥劑業及毒藥條例》另有規定外，擬在香港以藥劑師身分執業的人，須先向藥劑業及毒藥管理局註冊，並令管理局信納其身分及良好品格。
學歷資格準則
申請人須符合以下其中一項學歷要求：（a）在香港大學或香港中文大學修畢全日制課程後，持有該大學頒授的藥劑學學位；或（b）非本地申請人須完成不少於三個完整學年的全日制藥劑學大專教育（或同等學歷），並通常已在完成教育的國家註冊為藥劑師，或已取得註冊為藥劑師的專業資格。
考試豁免安排
所有申請人原則上須通過管理局三科筆試：「香港藥劑法例」、「藥劑執業」及「藥理學」，各科以英文進行。但持有港大或中大藥劑學學位的畢業生，可獲管理局酌情豁免全部考試，呢是本地畢業生的一大優勢。
註冊前實習要求
唔考慮學歷來源，所有申請人都要完成認可訓練先可以正式註冊：本地港大／中藥劑學學位持有人，須在香港接受管理局認可訓練，為期通常一年（可享不多於四星期假期）。非本地申請人則須已在完成課程的國家或另一國家，接受相關註冊前訓練及／或具備註冊後經驗，合計不少於一年，當中包括合計不少於六個月直接為病人提供護理服務（社區或醫院藥房）的經驗。如果訓練或病人護理經驗不足，管理局可酌情准許先應考，但註冊前仍要補足所有認可訓練。
薪酬與晉升前景
藥劑師嘅薪酬取決於僱主。醫管局按政府公布嘅薪級表支薪；私人連鎖藥房、跨國藥廠、批發商同社區藥房就由僱主自訂，會視乎更制、店舖營業時間、銷售或者業務指標，部分會加入佣金或獎金。同一張註冊資格，唔同僱主嘅待遇結構可以完全唔同，所以本站唔列月薪估算；睇招聘時要問清楚底薪、佣金或獎金計法、夜更同假日安排、強積金同在職進修支援。
晉升路線：初級藥劑師 → 高級藥劑師 → 總藥劑師（負責整間醫院或聯網嘅藥房運作）；私營機構可以升做藥房總監或者地區業務經理；專業路線則可以成為臨床藥劑專家，專責特定科別（例如腫瘤科、兒科）嘅用藥管理。

Basic registration requirements
Unless the Pharmacy and Poisons Ordinance provides otherwise, anyone intending to practise as a pharmacist in Hong Kong must first register with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board and satisfy the Board as to identity and good character.
Academic qualification criteria
Qualification is either (a) a full-time pharmacy degree from the University of Hong Kong or the Chinese University of Hong Kong, or (b) for non-local applicants, at least three full academic years of full-time tertiary pharmacy education (or equivalent), usually with pharmacist registration or eligibility in the country where the education was completed.
Exam exemption arrangements
Applicants must pass three Board written papers in English: Hong Kong Pharmacy Legislation, Pharmacy Practice, and Pharmacology. However, holders of HKU or CUHK pharmacy degrees may be exempted from all three papers at the Board’s discretion — a key advantage for local graduates.
Pre-registration training requirements
Regardless of academic origin, all applicants must complete approved training before full registration. Local HKU/CUHK graduates must complete Board-approved training in Hong Kong, normally one year (with not more than four weeks’ leave). Non-local applicants need at least one year of relevant pre-registration training and/or post-registration experience, including at least six months of direct patient care. Shortfalls may allow sitting exams early, but all training must be completed before registration.
Salary and promotion prospects
Pharmacists' pay depends on the employer. Hospital Authority posts follow the government pay scale, while private chains, multinational pharmaceutical companies, wholesalers and community pharmacies set their own, taking account of working patterns, opening hours and sales or business targets, sometimes with commission or bonus. The same registration can lead to entirely different reward structures, so this site prints no monthly estimate; when reading an advertisement, ask about the base rate, how commission or bonus is calculated, night and holiday arrangements, MPF and support for continuing education.
Progression: junior pharmacist → senior pharmacist → chief pharmacist running a hospital or cluster pharmacy service; in the private sector, pharmacy director or regional business manager; on the professional track, clinical pharmacy specialist managing medicines in a specific specialty such as oncology or paediatrics.
