English
Day-to-day work
Each day is spent in the booking system and with clients: comparing fares, issuing tickets, changing dates, processing refunds and following up hotels and local handling. In peak periods such as long holidays and summer, calls and messages never stop, and flight or weather disruptions mean rearranging travel for many clients at once.
Entry and regulation
Secondary education or above, good Chinese and English and familiarity with booking systems such as airline GDS platforms are usual; consultants must understand agent licensing, levy stamps for the Travel Industry Compensation Fund and sales requirements under the Travel Industry Ordinance, as published by the authority.
Pay and progression
Pay is usually a base salary plus commission or bonus with no statutory scale; commission structures and overtime arrangements vary by company, so this site prints no estimate. The route runs travel consultant, senior consultant or team leader, branch manager, then product or business manager, with moves into corporate travel management or product design.
