1786年（清乾隆五十一年），新安縣遭受蝗蟲侵襲，導致稻米大幅減產；同年秋冬兩季，該縣又逢乾旱，結果爆發嚴重饑荒。
In 1786 (the 51st year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing dynasty), Xin'an County was struck by locusts, causing a sharp drop in rice production; in the autumn and winter of the same year the county also suffered drought, resulting in a severe famine.
