1937年7月16日，港府仿效英國政府改組，將庫務司改稱財政司，並任命金錫儀為第一任財政司。

1937年7月22日，香港錄得該年度第一宗霍亂個案，其後疫病蔓延；全年共有1690人染病，死亡人數達1082人。
On 22 July 1937, Hong Kong recorded its first cholera case of the year, and the disease subsequently spread; a total of 1,690 people were infected during the year, with 1,082 deaths.

1937年7月31日，華商總會、東華三院與中華廠商會等數個組織聯合組成華北兵災籌款聯席會議，旨在為七七事變後受戰亂波及的內地百姓募捐。
On 31 July 1937, several organisations including the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Tung Wah Hospital and the Chinese Manufacturers' Association jointly formed the North China War Relief Fundraising Joint Conference to raise funds for mainland civilians affected by the fighting after the Marco Polo Bridge Incident.
